Moving to plaktoz.com

I will continue to blog at plaktoz.com and had already moving all the data over. I will continue to keep watch over this blogspot account for the next 2-3 weeks.

Just when I want to recover previous chat of Reuben post on my Chatterbox, I just realized it is not archived. It means that I've lost everything he post on my blog. Da**** To prevent from such things from happening again, just write a comment in plaktoz.com while I'm in the midst of setting up components of my new blog.

Meeting @ Sat regarding Reuben Kee Fund

Peeps who intend to join in for the discussion this Saturday evening about Reuben Kee fund, the venue has been set. It will be at Starbucks outlet near Carrefour.

Sperm donor in row with Lesbian couple

I really feel sorry for that guy. Is it right or wrong for CSA to demand so much money from a sperm-donor. But on the other hand, I feel sorry for the baby too. It makes me wonder if donating sperm is actually a bad thing. Maybe not as bad as it seems but if such a case comes out in the future again, how are we going to handle it. Should we actually allow lesbian to have babies at all since the baby won't have a normal family. Hope I won't get flame again.

LONDON - A BRITISH man who donated sperm to allow a lesbian couple to have a baby was criticised on Tuesday after claiming he is being unfairly forced to pay for the child.

In a case fuelling ethical debate in Britain, Andy Bathie, 37, says he was given guarantees by Sharon and Terri Arnold that he would have no emotional or financial responsibility for the baby conceived from his donation.

He claimed on Monday the government's Child Support Agency (CSA) was demanding he pay thousands of pounds after the lesbian couple split up, saying the financial strain means he cannot start a family with his wife.

But Terri Arnold said on Tuesday that, although originally he had no responsibility, Bathie had changed his mind and had become involved in the child's upbringing.

'What people don't understand is that they have only heard one side of the story. He was a father to the children, a dad. He played a father's role for two years of their, well, my daughter's life,' she told GMTV.

She confirmed that the couple approached Mr Bathie five years ago after they 'married' in a civil ceremony, and admitted that initially the accord was for him to simply be a sperm donor.

'I will openly admit to that, but it was him that changed his mind. He wanted to be involved, he wanted to be a dad,' she added, saying that he had looked after the girl one weekend every month.

At the heart of the dispute is the fact that, under British law, only men who donate sperm anonymously through licensed fertility clinics are not considered the legal father of any resulting child.

'Men giving out their sperm in any other way... are legally the father of any children born with all the responsibilities that carries,' said a spokesman for Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).

In Bathie's case, the donation was a private arrangement.

Mr Bathie said Monday: 'I don't have any particular ill will.

It's the fact that I still even now don't see why I should have to pay for another couple's children.' -- AFP

BOI formed

Board of Inquiry is formed to investigate on the Cambodia incident. When I see this, I was like thinking shouldn't they also find some way to commemorate sportsmen who have died for their country? It was until someone wake me up. He said there's a lot of army people died so what about them....

I still think we can do much more things for them like organizing a annual charity row in memorial of the 5 of them. How about using "Back Home" as our National Day Song? This always has been Reuben wish. Maybe someone who know Dick Lee can ask him the possibility of it. Maybe....

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) has revealed the names of the members who are sitting on the panel of inquiry, which is looking into last month's dragon boat tragedy.

Five Singaporeans died when their boat capsized after a dragon boat race in Cambodia on 23 November.

The panel is made up of representatives from various organisations.

They are:
1. Brigadier General Bernard Tan Kok Kiang, Ministry of Defence
2. Mr Fan Yue Sang, Senior Manager, Systems Engineering Competency Centre, DSTA
3. Ms Delphine Fong, Deputy Director, Sports Safety, Singapore Sports Council
4. Dr Benedict Tan, Head of Sports Medicine Division, Changi General Hospital
5. Mr Tan Chee Meng, Senior Counsel, Wong Partnership
6. Mr Woon Sian Hai, Retired-Commander, Police Coast Guard

Brigadier-General Tan, who is the chairman of the panel, said the dragon boat incident had impacted the sports fraternity and the inquiry panel would work to determine the factors that led to the tragedy.

He added that the panel would also recommend preventive measures to avoid similar incidents, both in Singapore as well as when Singaporeans participate in overseas events.

Singapore fielded a team for the first time in the annual race in Cambodia's Tonle Sap River. After completing the race, the Singapore boat capsized when returning to shore.

Five rowers died and the tragedy has raised questions about safety, as the athletes were not wearing life vests.

The SSC hopes the panel's findings will help to prevent accidents in future overseas sporting events.

One week has past

Its been a week since Reuben had left us. His departure has been saddening if not shocking to many of people who know him. We can cry, we can lament over his death but let's be strong and start loving the close one around you. Reuben won't want to see his friends being so depressed all the time. You can almost see him smiling all the time though you just don't know when. He will continue to be our source of strength and give us his blessing from heaven. I will continue to spread his music and I believe his music will continue to inspire many others in the future.

Only through such incident, then you will come to realize those that cares about you and sometimes it can be quite disheartening to see people who you think are close to you but yet oblivious of the pain I have went through. Really thanks Qianxia, Kailing, Ruiping, Nicole, Ridzuan, Jean and Leonghui for the encouragement to help me go through this difficult period. If not, I'm sure I won't be able to cope for the exam.

I just want to thank everyone for visiting my blog and giving me words of encouragement. People who I absolutely have no idea. But still, I would want to thank you for your care and concern. I'm simply blessed to have Reuben as a friend and to have him in my life when so many people don't even have the chance.

It's simply amazing to see his friends and those who don't even know him to be so passionate about setting up a Reuben Kee fund for the musically talented. For friends of his who wants to be part of the discussion this 9 Dec 6pm(uncle Freddy will be there), please do contact me. The place is not confirmed yet. Please do join the facebook group "In Honor Of Reuben" or post your suggestion here to contribute more ideas on how to commemorate him.

Finishing my first 42 km

It is really a disaster. For the first 20km, I finished within 2 hour but cramp sets in after that. Just lucky to meet Albert all the halfway point. And we finish the next half limping to the finishing line for the next 5 hours. I was lapped by Ah Pek and Ah Ma. Sigh.... really embarrassed about it. I think by the time we finish, the kenyans have already bathed, watched a movie and on their way home. Maybe already flying above the Atlantic Ocean... LOL. O ya, I think I should have change my tag name to Walking Back Home.
I'm highly surprised by the efficiency of the organiser itself. The water point is very well spread out. The collection of baggage is good unlike half marathon. I just took me less than 3 mins to collect my bag compared to 90 mins for half marathon. There's only something I don't quite like is that we have to climb down and up in order to collect our baggage and what's more the escalator is switched off. It's really terrible to go through staircase after a full marathon.
I will aim to finish my next race by 4 hours. It will be hard by not impossible.

Right now, I am truly walking like what is shown on the video

Reuben Music Video

Some of Reuben music video

This is what he likes most according to facebook. It is quite saddening for someone to use vulgarities on this post. Everyone has their own taste of music but we can always put it in a more constructive way.

This song should be Shemmue if I'm not wrong. A highly watched video by his close friend. I posted once for him in my blog but the post kinda missing. I think this is the best song he ever remixed.
